How We Got Here

Mateo Mattia was founded in 2013 shortly after founder Matthew Demeo graduated from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, with a degree in Accessory Design.  Matthew decided the fashion industry wasn’t the right move for him; with the rise of fast fashion, and instantly disposable clothing and goods, he wanted something more.  With opportunity knocking, and a hole in the forever changing market, Mateo Mattia came to be.  Creating high quality, handcrafted goods, made locally, and more importantly made ethically.  He aims to only use the best materials, the finest tools and is working to put craftsmanship back into modern American goods.  It’s been a long but fulfilling road, so come take a ride with us, and enjoy the view along the way.

Where’s our name come from?

It simple really,

Mateo = Matthew

Mattia = Matthew

It’s respect to my heritage, Puerto Rican & Italian. A reminder where my family came from and what sacrifices were made to get here. But deep down I’m just a kid from New York.

At our studio in New Rochelle, NY. Just north of the city.
